It has been awhile! So sorry!

We have been exploring so many new things in kindergarten!  It is just wonderful!

In math we have been exploring dominos, measuring and even probability!  Can you believe it?  Ask your child if it is possible to wake up with antlers on their head.....cute story that we read!

In reading we have been recalling and retelling stories!  We have been sequencing also!  So much fun!

We have been having story time with our GIP class!  Mrs. Paradis has been even teaching us some sign language!

Next week we will have the entire week off due to conferences and Thanksgiving break!  Just a reminder if you can not make your conference, please call and we will have to reschedule.

I hope everyone has an amazing break!  I am so thankful to have such an amazing class!

What has been going on?

We have been very busy learning to read our color words.  Does your child know how to read all their color words?

We finished our first month of writing journals.  The journals came home today. Children have been writing"I can see a ______(color word)_______(creative spelling of something that color).

I also have sent home a volunteer calendar today.  Please write your name in the calendar box and write down the time you are able to help out.    If I have several parents wanting to help out on the same day, I will let you know.  I will also send home a master schedule for the parents that have signed up.

Homework totes...they go home on Monday and need to be returned on Friday.  I only have 8 bags, so not everyone will have one.  They will need to be rotated through out the class.

Wednesday, September 14th

Sorting, sorting, sorting.....We were able to sort many different ways today. Ask your child how we sorted each other.

Bat/Cat, Pen/Hen, Hop/Mop, can your child recognize that these words rhyme?  We played the rhyming game today and the orange team won!  Way to go orange team!!

Can you spell compliment?  Ask your child how we are going to spell compliment.  What does that exactly mean?

Colors

Have you ever met Zero Hero?  Well we did today!  He comes to visit every 10 days.  We did the Zero Hero Rumba and we even did the "Time to make a bundle" dance!

Do you know the color red?  Your child is very excited to share with you his/her red book and even yellow.  We are starting to read and we are so excited!!  Please take the time to read the color books with your child.

We have also been exploring our shapes!  Do you know what a rhombus is?  How about a rectangle?  We were able to sort our pattern blocks today!

Parent Night

Hopefully I will see you tonight at our parent night at 6:30 p.m.  I know the children are very excited to have you in their room.  We had picture day today.  We were unable to visit the library due to picture day, but next week we will be able to check out a book. We will also have computer lab on Tuesday at 1:00-1:45, so if you are looking to help out...we could use your help!!

Math Vocabulary

How did you get to school today?  By car? By bus?  Plane? Boat?  Balloon?  Walking?  We graphed our "DATA"  and even "ANALYZED" the data!!  WOW!  Pretty big words huh?  Ask the kids what data means.  They even were introduced to maximum and minimum!  It was a great day today!

First Week

We completed our first week of school!  Yipee!  Everyone should have completed their ESGI test with me.  I will be sending home results sometime next week.  Watch for flashcards to come home too!  


Practice your numbers and alphabet too!  Make sure your child is able to write their name.

Bootcamp for PBIS

The children had a wonderful day of training today.  The children went to different stations to learn all about the different areas in our school.  They learned how to behave in the hallway, cafeteria, bathroom, computer lab, on the bus and even on the playground.  The children listened very well!

Today was a fabulous day!  It was great seeing everyone!
We will be dismissed at 11:40 tomorrow for ESGI testing.
